Colocation Hosting

Colocation hosting (or co-location hosting) involves a client who buys their own dedicated server, and then ships it to (or drops it off at) a data centre when the host provides rack space for the server (i.e., a place for it to live) and its connections to the Internet. The owner of the server does all maintenance either remotely or by visiting the data centre. If the owner cannot visit the data centre, data centre personnel will generally limit what they do with the server to rebooting it, shipping it back to the owner, or following detailed instructions from the owner.
